University of Tartu’s Delta Career Day is held for the fourth time

At Delta Career Day, held at the University of Tartu Academic Sports Club on Thursday, 3 March from 11–16, students can meet reputable employers in their field to find a future traineeship or job.

According to Professor Jaak Vilo, Head of the Institute of Computer Science of the University of Tartu, the Career Day aims to bring together enterprises who are looking for employees and the future graduates of the university. “Above all, the Career Day is a competition between enterprises who will show what kind of work our future graduates could do in their company,” Vilo said and added that graduates of the University of Tartu are highly esteemed by employers. “The Career Day allows participating enterprises to better distinguish themselves from others as providers of valuable, interesting and sufficiently complex work,” Vilo said.

More than 45 organisations will be present at the Career Day, providing students with information about traineeship and jobs offered in the field of computer science, economics and mathematics and statistics. The organisations will make short presentations that can be followed at the event venue or online.

Students want to make useful contacts at the Delta Career Day and meet the employers in person. “I’m looking forward to face-to-face meetings with company representatives to find out about available traineeship and job opportunities,” said Kristian Kutsar, second-year student of the School of Economics and Business Administration. Kristian would like to compare the jobs on offer to see which one would suit him best and which subjects he should pay more attention to in his studies.

According to bachelor’s student of mathematical statistics Annika Talvet, the Delta Career Day is a worthwhile event for any student looking for motivation. “It is an excellent opportunity to get an idea which companies hire statiticians,” Annika said, adding that the potential employers’ open and friendly attitude would help her decide which company to apply for.

Organisers of the Career Day are the University of Tartu Institute of Computer Science, School of Economics and Business Administration, and Institute of Mathematics and Statistics. More information about the event is available on the website of Delta centre.
