The students of the University of Tartu were successful in the competition Rotman European Trading

On August 27, the international student competition Rotman European Trading took place. The team of the University of Tartu got 8th place in the competition.

The Rotman European Trading competition took place for the fourth time. The competition aims to test students in solving problems by trading in the stock and foreign exchange markets. The primary goal of the competition is to allow students to apply their classroom knowledge to actual markets.

The competition took place online using the Rotman Interactive Trader (RIT) Market Simulator and Zoom. Participants practiced the tasks in the three weeks preceding the competition, including three organized sessions in which all teams were invited to participate. On the day of the competition, teams performed the tasks, each containing multiple heats to determine their final overall and event rankings.

The University of Tartu got 8th place out of 33 teams. The following UT students were on the team:

  • Joseph Haske (Actuarial and Financial Engineering);
  • Binghua Liu (Innovation and Technology Management);
  • Thi Thuy Nga Vu (Business Administration).
