First Announcement
August 26: arrival and registration, We intend to finish on August 28 early enough so that there will be a possibility to catch a transport from Tallinn to Helsinki in the evening. Another option for Finnish participants would be to spend one more night in Tartu and to use the weekend for sightseeing in Southern part of Estonia or in Tallinn. Our idea is that the colloquium should not only support the contacts between Finnish and Estonian mathematicians but also the contacts between representatives of different branches of mathematics. Therefore there will not be sections but the speakers are strongly suggested to give their lectures in such a form that any professional mathematician could catch the meaning of presented ideas and results, to learn something from there. We encourage to participate not only pure mathematicians but also those working in applications, including statistics and theoretical computer science. The survey lectures are welcome but short research announcements are not excluded. Of course, in the latter case we expect that the speaker gives more background than at specialized conferences. The talks/lectures will be 20-40 minutes long. The members of program committee are Mati Abel, Kalle Kaarli, Eve Oja and Arvet Pedas from Estonia and Mats Gyllenberg, Matti Lassas and Marjatta Näätänen from Finland. The registartion form, abstract summission form, hotel information, etc, will be in the present website by February 15. On behalf of organizers, Kalle Kaarli |
